The Witch's Cabinet · Spell kit

Divination Magick, spell kit and correspondences

Sharpening intuition for tarot, runes, scrying and other ways of seeing.

Divination is the art of seeking insight through tools such as tarot, runes, pendulums, scrying and dreams. In Wiccan practice it is less about predicting a fixed future and more about seeing your situation clearly, noticing patterns and hearing your own intuition. Spells for divination help you relax, focus and open your inner sight before a reading. Approach readings for others with care and honesty, and avoid reading about anyone who has not asked. Treat what you receive as guidance to reflect on, never as a replacement for medical, legal or financial advice.

Your divination spell kit

Candle colorPurple CandleA deep, inward color for intuition, spiritual study and quiet personal power.CrystalLabradoriteA gray stone with flashes of color, for intuition, magick, and quiet protection.HerbMugwortThe traditional dreamer's herb, for vivid dreams, intuition and protection while traveling.Oil or incenseSandalwoodA soft, creamy wood scent for calm meditation, protection and spiritual focus.Moon phaseFull MoonThe bright peak of the cycle, for intuition, celebration, charging and clarity.Day☽︎MondayThe Moon's day, for intuition, dreams, home, family and emotional care.

A simple pre-reading opening ritual

  1. On a Monday near the full moon, set a purple candle in a sturdy holder on a heat-safe surface, with your labradorite, a small dish of dried mugwort and your divination tool.
  2. Add a drop of sandalwood oil to the mugwort and light the candle. Avoid handling mugwort if pregnant, and keep it away from pets.
  3. Hold the labradorite and gaze softly at the flame for a few breaths. Let thoughts drift past without following them until your mind feels quiet.
  4. Say, "I open to clear sight and honest insight." Write your question on a slip of paper, keeping it open-ended, such as "What do I need to understand?"
  5. Do your reading by candlelight, noting first impressions on the same paper. Snuff the candle when you finish and close by thanking your tools.

Tip: Keep a divination journal so you can look back and spot how your readings unfold over time.
