Safety: True jasmine (Jasminum) is not on the ASPCA toxic plant list, but plants called Carolina jessamine or night-blooming jessamine are poisonous to people and pets, so be sure of the plant you have. Jasmine absolute and oils should never be swallowed, must be diluted for skin, and should be kept away from pets, cats especially.

How to use it

  • Dream pillow

Sew dried jasmine flowers into a small pillow or sachet and tuck it near your head at night. Before sleep, ask a gentle question and look for answers in your dreams.

  • Moonlight altar

Place fresh jasmine on your altar under the full moon. Light a white candle and sit with its scent, letting your intuition speak in quiet images.

  • Love tea

Sip jasmine green tea while you journal about the love you want to give and receive. Focus on how that love feels rather than on any one person.

Works well with

  • White Candle
  • Moonstone
  • Full Moon
  • Neroli

Substitutes

  • Honeysuckle
  • Lilac
  • Rose

History and folklore

Jasmine has been loved for its fragrance for thousands of years across South Asia, the Middle East and the Mediterranean, where it is woven into wedding garlands, hair ornaments and temple offerings. Because many jasmines release their strongest scent after dark, Western witches link the flower to the moon, dreams and the quiet hours of intuition. In folklore it is said to draw spiritual love and prophetic dreams, making it a favorite in sachets and night-time rituals.
