History and folklore
Cancer the Crab comes from the Greek tale of a crab sent by Hera to distract Heracles as he fought the Hydra; for its loyalty she set it among the stars. The sun enters Cancer at the summer solstice, the turning point of the year. As the only sign ruled by the Moon, it is linked to mothers, ancestors, the home and the tides of feeling. Witches traditionally use its season for home blessings, family healing and protection.
