Friday
Moon phase
Waxing Crescent
Chakra
Heart
Color
Pale mint to bright green, often cloudy
Hardness

Found in
Mexico
Safety: Calcite is soft (about 3 on the Mohs scale) and scratches easily. Water dulls its surface and acids such as vinegar or lemon juice dissolve it, so do not soak it or make crystal elixirs with it. Cleanse it with smoke, sound or moonlight.

How to use it

  • Start fresh

On a waxing crescent, hold green calcite and name one area of your life where you want a fresh start. Keep the stone somewhere you will see it every morning.

  • Heart healing bath-side

Set green calcite beside the tub, not in the water, while you take a warm, quiet bath. Breathe slowly and let it remind you to treat yourself gently.

  • Money growth jar

Place a piece in a jar with a few coins and a bay leaf. Add a coin each week as a small, practical sign of steady growth.

Works well with

  • Green Candle
  • Basil
  • Bay Laurel
  • ♀︎Friday
  • Waxing Crescent

Substitutes

  • Green Aventurine
  • Prehnite
  • Jade

History and folklore

Calcite is one of the most common minerals on Earth, the main ingredient of limestone, marble and chalk. Its name comes from the Latin calx, meaning lime. Green calcite, mostly mined in Mexico, gets its color from traces of other elements in the crystal. It has no long folklore of its own, so its correspondences are modern and drawn from its color: like spring leaves, it stands for renewal, gentle healing and the slow, steady growth of anything you are nurturing.
