History and folklore
Some of the oldest human art shows goddesses, such as the small carved Venus figures of the Stone Age. Wicca honors a Goddess, often seen as the Triple Goddess of Maiden, Mother and Crone and linked with the moon, earth and sea. Many witches honor a particular goddess, such as Brigid, Isis, Diana or Hecate, while others simply honor "the Lady". Her side of the altar is traditionally the left.
