History and folklore
The Greeks called quartz krystallos, meaning ice, believing it was water frozen so deeply it could never thaw. Clear quartz has been carved into amulets, beads, and scrying balls across many cultures, and crystal gazing became a popular form of divination in Victorian times. Because it is abundant and takes on intention so readily, many modern witches call it the master stone, a blank page that can stand in for nearly any working when you hold a clear purpose.
