History and folklore
Tuesday is named for Tiw, the Old English form of the Norse god Tyr, a god of war and justice. The Romans called the day after Mars, and many Romance languages still do, as in martes and mardi. When the Germanic peoples adopted the Roman week, they swapped in their own god of battle. Because of these links, witches traditionally use Tuesday for courage, strength, protection and action. It is a good day for magick that needs a firm push or a clear boundary.
