History and folklore
Danburite was first described in 1839 by the American mineralogist Charles Shepard, who named it after Danbury, Connecticut, where it was found. The original site is now built over, and most danburite today comes from Mexico, Madagascar and Russia. Its clear, striated crystals look a little like quartz but have chisel-shaped tips. With no deep folklore behind it, its correspondences are modern. Witches use it as a quiet, clear stone for peace, gentle healing and calm reflection.
