Safety: Never swallow essential oils. Always dilute before skin contact (about 1-2 drops per teaspoon of carrier oil) and patch test first. Keep away from pets, especially cats, and out of reach of children. As a precaution, avoid during pregnancy.

How to use it

  • Heart anointing

Add one drop to a tablespoon of carrier oil and touch a little over your heart in the morning, asking to give and receive love with an open heart.

  • Friday love candle

Anoint a pink candle with diluted rose oil on a Friday and light it while you focus on the qualities of love you want to grow.

  • Stretch it gently

Rose otto is costly, so buy a pre-diluted rose oil in jojoba and use it a drop at a time on charms, letters or candles.

History and folklore

Rose otto is distilled from the Damask rose, mainly in Bulgaria's Valley of Roses and in Turkey and Iran. It takes thousands of petals to make a single drop, which is why it has always been precious. Persian distillers refined the process around a thousand years ago, and attar of roses became a treasured gift across the Islamic world and Europe. In witchcraft the rose belongs to Venus and to love in all its forms, from romance to self-respect.
