History and folklore
Snowflake obsidian is volcanic glass that has begun, very slowly, to turn crystalline. Over time, small radiating clusters of the mineral cristobalite grow inside the glass and look like white snowflakes or blossoms against the black. Much of it comes from Utah. Because it holds black and white together, many witches see it as a stone of balance: a way to look at both light and shadow honestly. It is a favorite for grounding, calm clarity, and gentle protection, especially in winter.
