History and folklore
At the last quarter the Moon again looks like a half circle, lit on the left side for Northern Hemisphere viewers. It rises around midnight and is often still visible in the morning sky. Witches traditionally treat this as the point of release, when the shrinking light supports cutting away what no longer helps you. It is a common time for banishing work, breaking unhealthy habits, setting boundaries and deep cleaning, both of the home and of the mind.
