Safety: Never swallow essential oils. Always dilute before skin contact (about 1-2 drops per teaspoon of carrier oil) and patch test first. Keep away from pets, especially cats, and out of reach of children.

How to use it

  • Ground after ritual

After magickal work, rub one drop of diluted vetiver on the soles of your feet and sit quietly for a minute. It helps you return to everyday life.

  • Prosperity anointing

Anoint a green or brown candle with diluted vetiver while you picture slow, steady growth rather than sudden luck. Let it burn safely while you plan.

  • Calm the house

Diffuse a drop with lavender in a ventilated room, away from pets, on evenings when the household feels tense or restless. Let it run for only half an hour, then open a window and notice how the room feels.

  • Hematite
  • Earth

  • Jera

Substitutes

  • Cedarwood
  • Sandalwood
  • Spikenard

History and folklore

Vetiver is a tall, clumping grass from India with deep, fragrant roots. In India its roots are woven into screens and mats that release a cool scent when sprinkled with water, and the oil is sometimes called the oil of tranquility. Because its roots hold soil so firmly, vetiver is planted to stop erosion. Witches treat it as a grounding and protective oil and use it in money and luck blends where slow, stable growth is the goal.
