History and folklore
Jera means year, and especially the harvest it brings. The Old English rune poem, written in a Christian era, says the harvest is a joy when the holy king of heaven lets the earth give bright fruits to rich and poor alike, and the Norse poems call a good year a gift to all. These medieval poems, with modern interpretation, shape how the rune is read today: as cycles, patience and the fair reward of honest work.
