Intentions
Cleansing, Confidence, New Beginnings
Element
Fire
Planet
The Sun
Day
Sunday
Parts used
Fruit peel, cold-pressed oil
Scent
Tart, fresh, slightly bitter citrus
Safety: Never swallow essential oils. Always dilute before skin contact (about 1-2 drops per teaspoon of carrier oil) and patch test first. Keep away from pets, especially cats, and out of reach of children. Cold-pressed grapefruit oil is mildly phototoxic: avoid sun or tanning beds on treated skin for 12 hours.

How to use it

  • Morning reset

Diffuse a drop or two in a ventilated room, away from pets, when you wake up feeling stuck. Name one small action you will take today.

  • Clear after a hard day

Add a drop to a tablespoon of carrier oil, rub it into your palms and wipe them down your arms as if brushing off the day's weight.

  • New project candle

Anoint a yellow candle with diluted grapefruit oil when starting a new project and focus on energy, freshness and follow-through. Write the first three steps of the project on paper and set it beside the candle while it burns.

History and folklore

Grapefruit is a young fruit in historical terms. It arose in Barbados in the 1700s as a natural cross between sweet orange and pomelo and was once called the forbidden fruit. Its name may come from the way the fruit hangs in clusters like grapes. Because it has little old folklore, modern witches work with it through its citrus family and solar color, using it to cut through heaviness and bring fresh energy to new goals.
