History and folklore
Ruby in zoisite was found in Tanzania in the mid-twentieth century, in the Longido area near the Kenyan border. It is also called anyolite, from a Maasai word for green. The stone is a natural mix of green zoisite, ruby crystals, and dark hornblende. The ruby is usually too clouded to be cut as a gem, so the rock is carved and tumbled whole. Because it marries the colors of the heart and the root, modern witches use it to balance love with drive and to rekindle joy and creativity.
