History and folklore
Gold has been prized across the world for its warm, unchanging shine, and in many myths it is the metal of the Sun and of the divine. Kings wore it, temples were gilded with it, and alchemists treated it as the goal of their work. In Wiccan practice a gold candle carries that solar, generous energy. It is used for success, abundance, recognition and confidence, and some traditions use gold to honor the God, pairing it with silver for the Goddess on the altar.
